This is one of the most biologically diverse parks in North Carolina and a contender for the most beautiful park in the area. Maritime forests, sandhills, and waterfront ridges support carnivorous plants and ancient live oaks. Six miles of easy trails wind through the park. Excellent overnight camping facilities are available, as well as a renovated marina. The park is on Pleasure Island, 1 mile north of Carolina Beach and less than a half-mile from US 421, off Dow Road. Day use is free.
