The Cape Fear Literacy Council (CFLC) has two programs to help adults achieve their academic and personal learning goals: 1) Adult Basic Literacy which focuses on reading, writing and math as well as preparation for the GED; and 2) English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), which helps adults from other countries develop English communication skills such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. The Literacy Council offers one-on-one tutoring, an on-site computer lab with educational software, and small classes, including English conversation classes for ESOL students. Services are free of charge, confidential and flexible. Learners are at least 18 years old (or 16 and out of school).
